Jamal Yasseem Igle


Jamal Igle was born in Harlem, New York on July 19,1972. An artistic prodigy, Jamal showed an aptitude for music and acting but excelled as an illustrator. A lifelong comics fan, Jamal began to study art at several reputable institutions including the School of Visual arts and the Art Students league of New York. At 17, Jamal got his first comics related position as an intern at DC Comics in New York.

After completing his education and traveling for several years, Jamal returned to New York, portfolio in hand, to achieve his long-sought-after-dream. Jamal immediately became a commodity and landed his first assignment, a book called Flashpoint, for the now defunct Majestic Entertainment. Since then, Jamal Igle has worked on comic books for almost every major publisher including DC, Marvel and Image. Some titles that bear this young talent's eye-catching work include the critically acclaimed mini series, Race Against Time, the highly successful Tomoe/Witchblade crossover "Fire Sermon" and Marvel's Daredevil/Shi crossover.

Jamal continues to work on varying projects for comics and Other media including, Classics Illustrated and Trinity Angels for Acclaim, covers for Dark Angel Productions, the STUPERPOWER! roleplaying game series from his own publishing/packaging company, Unstoppable Productions, where he operated as the co-publisher and advertising director. Jamal has won several awards including a citation from the Massachusetts chamber of commerce. Jamal currently pencils Blackjack: Blood and Honor for Dark Angel Productions.
